Our Mission

Good for Our Community. Good for Our Future.

Fair Prices Friendly Faces A Cleaner Future

At Clovis Recycling, our mission is to make recycling simple, rewarding, and accessible while treating every person who walks through our doors like family.

Family-owned and proudly serving Clovis and the surrounding communities since 1989, we believe that doing what’s right for the environment should also mean doing what’s right for the people who make it possible.

That’s why we’ve built our business on honest relationships, fair payouts, dependable service, and a genuine commitment to the community we call home.

Whether you’re bringing in a few bags of aluminum cans, recycling your bottles, or unloading a truck full of scrap metal, you deserve the same respect, personal attention, and friendly service every time you visit.

We understand that your time matters and that every dollar counts. Our goal is to make every visit quick, straightforward, and worthwhile, with real people ready to answer your questions and help you get the most out of your recycling experience.

But our commitment goes beyond the materials we collect. Every bottle, can, and piece of metal represents an opportunity to reduce waste, conserve valuable resources, and make a positive difference for future generations.

For us, recycling isn’t just about what we take in. It’s about what we give back: value to our customers, care for our community, and a cleaner future for the families who come after us.

Because at Clovis Recycling, we believe everything deserves a second chance, and everyone deserves to be treated right.

Our story

Recycling made simple, fair and local.

Since 1989, Clovis Recycling has been the family-owned place Clovis brings its cans, glass, plastic and scrap. We keep it straightforward: clean facility, honest weights, and a team that remembers your name.

We run two Clovis locations. Both buy back cans, glass and plastic, and our 1059 Hoblitt Avenue yard is a full-service scrap yard for copper, brass, iron, stainless, tin and more.

Why it matters

Every can and bottle counts

Recycling metal and glass saves serious energy, keeps material out of the landfill and puts money back in your pocket.

Up to 95% less energy

Making aluminum from recycled cans takes up to 95% less energy than making it from ore. One can, recycled, powers the next one.

Copper never wears out

Recycled copper keeps 100% of its properties — and recycling it uses around 85% less energy than mining and refining new metal.

Steel & iron: 60–75% savings

Scrap steel and iron go straight back into new products, cutting energy use by roughly 60–75% compared with starting from ore.

Glass, endlessly

Glass can be recycled again and again without losing quality or purity — and using recycled glass saves around half the energy of making it new.

Real money back

Every eligible can and bottle carries a refundable CRV deposit. Bring them in and the deposit comes back to you — 5¢ or 10¢ at a time.

A local industry

U.S. scrap recycling supports roughly half a million jobs and over $100 billion a year in economic activity, and the metal we take in stays in the cycle.

Figures are industry estimates from the Aluminum Association / IAI, the European Copper Institute, the Center for Ecological Technology and the Recycled Materials Association (ISRI).

Recycle it right

Do this, skip that

Most rejected loads come down to a few simple mistakes. Here's how to get paid faster.

Do this

  • Empty and drain cans and bottles — dry loads pay without delays
  • Sort aluminum, glass and plastic into separate bags
  • Look for “CA Redemption Value” or “CA CRV” on the container
  • Use a magnet to sort iron & steel (sticks) from copper, brass & aluminum (doesn't)
  • Keep copper, brass and aluminum separate from each other
  • Bring a valid photo ID when you sell non-ferrous scrap
  • Call ahead for large or unusual loads — we'll point you the right way

Avoid this

  • Mixing non-CRV items into a CRV load — it can be rejected or paid at scrap value only
  • Bringing dirty, wet or contaminated containers and cardboard
  • “Wish-cycling” — tossing questionable items in and hoping for the best
  • Sealed containers, propane tanks, batteries or anything holding fuel — call first
  • Leaving fluids in engines and appliances
  • Assuming every stainless item is non-magnetic — ask us when in doubt
  • Showing up without ID for copper, brass or other non-ferrous scrap
How it works

Sort. Weigh. Get paid.

Three steps, usually a few minutes.

Sort it

Separate aluminum, glass and plastic. For scrap, split ferrous (magnet sticks) from non-ferrous. Five minutes of sorting at home saves you time at the scale.

Weigh it

Our team inspects and weighs your load in front of you. Small loads can be paid by count — larger loads are paid by weight.

Get paid

Walk out with your refund or scrap payout. CRV loads are paid at California's state rates; for scrap, call or stop in for today's pricing.

Questions

Everything people ask us

California pays a CRV refund of 5¢ for containers under 24 oz and 10¢ for 24 oz and larger. Small loads can be paid by count; larger loads are paid by weight at California's state-set rates.

Yes — please separate aluminum, glass and plastic and remove anything that isn't a CRV container. Mixed-in non-CRV items can cause a load to be rejected or paid at scrap value only.

Jefferson Avenue is a Certified California Redemption Center for cans, glass and plastic. Hoblitt Avenue takes all CRV material and is our full-service scrap yard for copper, brass, iron, stainless, tin, scrap aluminum and cardboard.

Yes. California law requires recyclers to record seller identification on non-ferrous metal sales (copper, brass, aluminum and similar), so bring a valid photo ID. CRV container redemption doesn't require it.

Scrap prices move with the commodity markets, so they change from day to day. Call the Hoblitt Avenue yard at (559) 299-8807 or stop in for today's pricing.

A magnet sticks to ferrous metals (iron and steel). It doesn't stick to non-ferrous metals like copper, brass and aluminum, which generally pay more. Some stainless grades are magnetic and some aren't — if you're not sure, ask us.

Sealed containers, propane tanks, batteries and anything holding fuel are generally not accepted. Not sure about an item? Call the location before you load up.

Jefferson Ave.: Mon–Fri 8:30am–4:45pm, Sat 8:00am–3:45pm. Hoblitt Ave.: Mon–Fri 8:30am–4:15pm, closed for lunch 11:45am–12:30pm. Both are closed Sundays and on New Year's, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
