Beyond the Bin: Exploring Uncommon Recyclables at Clovis Recycling

Recycling isn't just newspapers and plastic bottles. Meet the less common materials you might not know can be recycled.

Recycling isn't just about everyday items like newspapers and plastic bottles. At Clovis Recycling, we handle less common materials you might not realize can be recycled — which reduces waste and keeps valuable materials in use.

1. Tin from construction

Construction and demolition sites are abundant sources of scrap tin, found in roofing, siding and other building materials. Recycling tin conserves iron ore, reduces energy consumption and lowers greenhouse gas emissions from raw material extraction. We make sure your construction scrap is recycled efficiently.

2. Copper wire

Copper wire is in every electrical system — from your home's wiring to discarded electronics. Because copper is highly conductive and recyclable without losing quality, it's incredibly valuable. Recycling it preserves a precious metal and keeps plastics out of landfills.

Selling non-ferrous metals like copper? Bring valid photo ID — California law requires recyclers to record seller identification.

3. Brass and stainless

Plumbing fittings, valves and kitchen equipment are rich in brass and stainless steel — both highly recyclable. Keep them separate from other metals and ask us if you're unsure what you have.

Look around your home, garage and workplace for these less commonly recycled items. Not sure whether we take something? Call us before you load up.
